Come back, Ed.

Twitter can be a harsh place for anyone, and this is only amplified for famous people. After the onslaught of abuse and confusion caused by Ed Sheeran’s Glastonbury set it seems to have only gotten worse for the cheeky ginger crooner. So bad that he has decided to take time away from social media yet again, the last time he went on a hiatus in 2015, he came back with a new album.
Ed is one of many celebrities who have decided to take a break from social media due to abuse, or trolling. Following the likes of Lilly Allen who took a break from Twitter due to her ‘‘timeline [being] full of the most disgusting, sexist, misogynistic, racist shit.”
Twitter has tried to combat the abuse endured online by people by adding the ‘safe search’ feature meaning that tweets will not show up if they contain potentially sensitive content and also hide results from blocked or muted accounts. However, the tweets will still be there if a person specifically searches for them.
