The estranged father of the beloved Star-Wars franchise has stated in a recent interview that he would not return to direct another movie in the famous space opera due to a fear of criticism and there being no room for experimentation.
Lucas who sold the rights to the long running sci-fi series to Disney in 2013 for £2.6bn ($4bn) said during an interview with Vanity Fair, the series no longer allowed his to experiment and be creative. ‘you go to make a movie and all you do is get criticised, and people try to make decisions about what you’re going to do before you do it, And it’s not much fun. You can’t experiment. You have to do it a certain way. I don’t like that, I never did. I started out in experimental films and I want to go back to experimental films.’
You know what? Boo Hoo there are many reasons Lucas was Criticised for the prequels, naming some off the top of my head; midichlorians, a main plot revolving around politics, one strong female character, Hayden Christensen… but the one thing that just wraps all the problems into one nice little package, one thing that will send shivers down any fans spine… Jar Jar Binks.
So maybe I would feel some sort of compassion for you having harsh criticisms, except for the fact that when you were asked in the interview what character you would be, you said you would be the most loathed Gungun in the galaxy, goddamn Jar Jar Binks!
Personally my second favorite Star-Wars movie is revenge of the sith, but that is the only redeemable factor in the whole trilogy, Im very grateful for you bringing Star-Wars to us, but saying something like that is akin to grabbing the respect we still had for you putting it into a paper bag, taking a nice long turd in the bag, putting it on our doorstep then setting that on fire.
I hope you’re proud George, I hope you’re real fucking proud!
